This year, I have really enjoyed upcycling fabrics for customers from their unwanted clothes. From these items, that would most likely would have been thrown away, I have made new hair accessories for my customers.
The clothes given to me have often been items of clothing and school uniform that children have grown out of. The clothing has all been in fairly good overall condition, maybe with the odd stain or two to cut around, and perfect to make hair accessories from. It is lovely to see how pleased people are when they receive their upcycled bows and bobbles!

I’ve discovered that some fabrics and patterns work better for different items with some suiting hair bands and bows better and others fabrics have suited bobbles better. Some fabrics have worked well with everything and I have been able to create some nice matching sets. These matching sets have worked especially well if the parent has bought the next size up of clothes to go with the hair accessories. My daughter, of course, prefers more of an eclectic mix of clothes and hair bobbles!
I’m looking forward to doing some more upcycling in 2021 when I have some more upcycling slots available!
