I love my fabrics from my local fabric shops but right from the start I was keen to add hand stitching to some of my makes.

Hand stitched cats.

My first attempt at hand stitching was on these cats which I stitched onto bobbles last year. Although they are a little rough, I do quite like them and I think my final cat, the pink cat on white fabric, does show a bit of progress.. 🙂

Hand stitching inspired by my course at Bridgwater College.

I started an embellished textile course at Bridgwater College with Charlotte Johnson (@firelilydesign on Instagram) in January 2020 and this again led to me reaching for my thread and needles! I think these are a step up from my cats!

Hand stitching during lockdown.

During lockdown, I found a bit more time to revisit my hand stitching and I had another go at some of my previous designs and started coming up with some new ideas. I’m really happy with how these bows turned out and I’ve enjoyed trying something a little different and developing my hand stitching skills.
